Covering approximately 21 sq km, 8.3 km long and 4.7 km wide, the island offers a variety of landscapes and attractions to explore. Its topography is dominated by the ridge which reaches its maximum point in Poggio della Pagana, rising to 498 meters above sea level.

Trekking Map: Giglio Island is a paradise for trekking lovers. About 90% of its territory remains untouched and wild, offering multiple pedestrian paths. This detailed map shows the various paths that cross the island, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Tuscan Archipelago and immersing yourself in the scents of the Mediterranean scrub. Tourist Map: This map has been specifically designed for tourists and shows the main attractions and points of interest on the island. In 2021, the numbering of the trails was updated by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, and a comparison table between the old and new numbering is available in the Trekking section.
Distances on Giglio Island
The distances between the localities of the island are short, allowing visitors to explore the island of Giglio even in a few hours. For example:
Giglio Porto to Giglio Castello: 5.8 km (10 minutes) with a vertical drop of 415 metres.
Giglio Porto to Giglio Campese: 8.3 km (14 minutes) reaching a maximum point of 246 metres.
Giglio Castello to Giglio Campese: 5.9 km (11 minutes) with a vertical drop of 415 metres.
Giglio Castello to the southern tip of Capel Rosso: 6.3 km (11 minutes).
Where to Find Maps
The maps and information materials are available both online and in printed version. For those who want a physical copy, it is possible to go to the Casa del Parco and the Pro Loco in Giglio Porto, located in Via Umberto 6, a few meters from the quay where the ferries dock.
