On the eastern side of the island, the first village of Roman origins, visible from all ships coming from Porto Santo Stefano. Historical and archeological texts and books explain a 120 meters granite wharf built because of intense maritime traffic and restored in 1796.

Giglio Porto, throughout history has been abandoned and repopulated several times and was frequently under constant attack of pirates andconsequetly started to develop only in the XVIII century.



Giglio Porto is a small characteristic village, featured by multi colored houses , by a green and red lighthouse and by a beautiful tower called Torre del Saraceno (1596).


Especially in spring- summer , Giglio Porto is busy with tourists in bars, shops and restaurants. Banks, boats, a post office, a chemist, doctors have their headquarters in this village. Footpaths from Porto to Cannelle, Caldane and Arenella. Rental cars, motorbikes, quad and boats avialable.
